TCOL was the second King Crimson album I ever heard (Thrak was the first), and the first I purchased myself. I can still remember listening to "Oyster Soup" and being completely baffled, while at the same time thinking, "this rocks!"

The transcription looks great. I'm looking forward to playing through it after I print it out.

I can see that lots of people like The Power to Believe better than The Construction of Light. It seems that even Fripp does judging from his including zero songs from TCOL on the studio half of the 21st Century Guide while giving a huge helping of TPTB therein. But really, I can't understand it for a moment. I think that TPTB is a vastly inferior follow-up to the album that preceded it the same way that Beat is a hiccough compared with the thunder of Discipline. I like TPTB ok, but TCOL is a work of utter genius from start to finish.

I can agree with the statement, as long as we add "except for that godawful 'I Have a Dream' lyric" to the end of it.

ok, now we SPLIT!!! I have ALWAYS liked the album version with the "I Have a Dream" Coda, although the instrumental version is great. always thought the lyrical version had more of a punch with the singing, and that's been my preference from the start, and still is. :P

I made a "deluxe" version of TCOL that I still play all the time. I replaced "Oyster Soup" with PX's "Demolition" (which is really just a crunchier, instrumental version), added Ade's original acoustic "I Had a Dream" intro to the "Happy..." version of LTIA5, and stuck a couple PX tracks ("Two Awkward Moments" and "The Business of Pleasure") before and after "FraKctured"... That entire ProjeKct X album really does fit inside TCOL. I wish they would have included some of it. I still LOVE the original release though. Got Ade to sign my copy.
